European Vacation, Day 1

Today we arrived in London. The excitement of the Olympic games is everywhere. There are banners all over, and everyone we have spoken to has asked if we are seeing the games or just here for vacation. The kids are absolutely in love with everyone's accent here. I have to admit, it's really hard not to speak in a British accent. Every time someone talks to me, I want to mimic their accent. I don't know why. I do it in Canada too, eh? When Madi stepped off the plane she took a deep breath in, and said, "Mmmm! It smells just like a hockey rink. But without the sweaty hockey players." Funny enough, it did actually smell like a hockey rink for some reason. The flight was LONG. Alex and I got no sleep, and there was so much turbulence. At one point we lost significant altitude, enough to make several people gasp and scream out loud. Apparently the air over Greenland was having a little fun with us. Our first stop is Bath. The drive was interesting. What was a 2 hour drive took us 3.5 hours. Damn roundabouts got us all twisted. Not only was I tired, driving on the wrong side of the car, and wrong side of the street, but Mike kept telling me to turn right or left, not taking into account that I was on the opposite side of the road. We made a LOT of detours, and saw a lot of beautiful countryside. At least we didn't get frustrated with each other. It was pretty funny, actually. I kept misjudging the left side of the car, and hitting the curbs, and Mike took us in circles. Now we are practiced, and our drive to the Forest of Dean in the miorning should be smoother.

Have wings, will travel

Ok, maybe I don't have actual wings, but our plane does. So away we go to far off destinations, just a couple birds teaching our chicks to spread their wings. Stay tuned for the latest and greatest adventures.
